Job Title: After-School Group Leader  

Position Summary:   

The After-School Group Leader is responsible for supervising and leading a group of students during after-school program activities. The Group Leader will create a safe, engaging, and positive environment, while supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development. This role includes organizing recreational, academic, and enrichment activities that align with the program’s goals. 

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervision & Safety: Maintain a safe and supportive environment for students, ensuring appropriate supervision at all times. Address any behavioral issues in a calm, respectful, and effective manner. 

  • Activity Planning: Plan and lead a variety of activities, including arts, sports, homework assistance, and enrichment projects that promote creativity, physical activity, and learning. 

  • Homework Assistance: Provide support for students with homework, helping them understand assignments and promoting academic growth. 

  • Engagement & Interaction: Build positive relationships with students, encouraging participation and fostering an inclusive environment. Facilitate team-building activities and promote positive social interactions among students. 

  • Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents, caregivers, and program staff about student progress, challenges, and any incidents that occur during the program. 

  • Attendance & Record-Keeping: Take daily attendance and track student participation. Assist with program evaluations by providing feedback and observations on student engagement and behavior. 

  • Classroom Management: Enforce program rules and expectations, guiding students to make positive choices and resolve conflicts constructively. 

  • Supply & Resource Management: Organize and maintain materials and supplies needed for program activities. Ensure spaces are clean and orderly at the end of each session. 

  • Event Participation: Assist with the planning and execution of special events, field trips, and community activities that may take place outside regular after-school hours. 

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other group leaders, staff, and volunteers to ensure program consistency and success. Participate in team meetings and training sessions as needed. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in education, child development, or a related field is preferred. 

  • Prior experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or childcare setting is strongly preferred. 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. 

  • Ability to manage a group of children effectively while fostering a positive and supportive atmosphere. 

  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for working with youth. 

 

Additional Requirements:     

  1. Current Act 114, Act 34, Act 151 and NSOR Clearances required prior to an offer (Must be dated within 1 year of hire date). 

  1. School Personnel Health Record (Form H511.340) must be completed and received by Human Resources prior to hire date. 

  1. First Aid/CPR certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain it.

Salary: $15.00 per hour (up to 25 hours per week)
